Palau de la Música Catalana is an architectural jewel of modernist Barcelona and definitely one of the must-see´s. It is the only modernist concert hall declared UNESCO World Heritage Site (1997). Its impressive house was designed by architect Lluís Domenech i Montaner and constructed between 1905 and 1908 as a home for Catalan Choir. It was built around a metal structure covered in glass, which allows the daylight in, illuminates and fills it with colours. Nowadays, the Palace is a representational landmark of the city and remains open to the public as a social asset that hosts all kinds of cultural, social and business events, conferences, congresses, exhibitions, etc.
Our guided tour will allow you to discover the Domenech i Montaner´s masterwork, where all types of art come together united: stained glass, mosaic and sculpture, amongst many more.
After this visit, you will head to the “El Born” district to enjoy a cup of delicious, thick hot chocolate accompanied with “churros” – typical Spanish treat made of fried dough, often sprinkled with sugar on top. Enjoy!
